Elden Ring Guides: Can you save Irina from dying?
Publish date: 2024-06-22
Early in the game, you could meet the NPC Irina at the Weeping Peninsula. But she eventually dies. Is it possible to stop Irina's death?
Due to the open-world nature of Elden Ring, it's possible for players who have played the game for hundreds of hours to have never met Irina. However, players will be greatly rewarded for finding Irina and doing her quest line. This is where you can find Irina and progress her quest:
Irina can be found past the Bridge of Sacrifice, on the Weeping Peninsula. She's sitting by a rock near a lamp post.Talk to Irina and exhaust all of her dialogue. This will lead to Irina giving the player Irina's Letter.Head further south, but be on the lookout for the Archer Golem that shoots Great Arrows from afar.Defeat the Archer Golem, or simply walk past it to gain access to Castle Morne at the very bottom of the map.Activate the Site of Grace, then go up the elevator.Stick to the left side of the path, past the hounds, and past the Pumpkin Head across the yard. You can find the Claymore, a powerful Greatsword for the early game, towards the right, but you'll risk fighting a horde of Misbegotten.Go up the ramparts using a ladder past the Pumpkin Head. At the ramparts, you'll have to fight a gauntlet of Misbegottens, about four of them. Use a shield and guard counter the melee attacking ones, while using your shield to block arrows from the flying ones. Be wary of the flying Misbegotten as they can swoop down and nail you to the floor with a grab attack.Past the four Misbegotten, you'll find a ladder towards your left towards the end of the ramparts.Fight through another series of Misbegotten, who are engaged fighting a couple of soldiers.Past these, climb another set of stairs and find Edgar, the father of Irina, sitting alone on a bench.Give Edgar the letter when prompted.Find the Leonine Misbegotten and beat it in Castle Morne. The Boss drops the Grafted Blade Greatsword.Head back to where you originally found Irina. She will be dead and Edgar is there, mourning her. Talk to Edgar to progress the story line.Find Edgar's Invader at the Revenger's Shack in Liurnia. Beating the Invader will drop the Banished Knight's Halberd. Can You Prevent Irina's Death?
Sadly, Irina's death is completely part of the quest line. Just like a majority of Elden Ring's quests (and by extension, almost all quest lines in Soulsborne games), this story doesn't have a happy ending. Irina will be killed by the Leonine Misbegotten as soon as you give Edgar the letter, and avenging her death by killing the Leonine Misbegotten will not satisfy Edgar. His quest to avenge his daughter will lead to his madness, attacking the Tarnished out of desperation, thinking that they are responsible for the death of Irina. No matter how you change the sequence of the steps you take in the quest guide above, there is no way to save Irina apart from completely avoiding her quest line and not killing the Leonine Misbegotten. Thankfully, her role in the greater scheme of things is small, and her death is pretty much inconsequential. Missing this quest line will have you missing out on some powerful weapons.
