JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: The Broadway community mourns the loss of Clifton Oliver, a talented actor known for his remarkable performances in acclaimed theatre productions. The 47-year-old actor, who had been battling a lengthy illness, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional talent and a loving spirit.

"My baby brother, Clifton Oliver, has had his final curtain call," Oliver's sister, Roxy Hall, shared the heartbreaking news of his death on Facebook, adding that his death was "peaceful." "His partner Richard was singing to him the song Psalm 23 as he took his last breath this morning at 3:20 AM. My heart is sad, and overjoyed at the same time! I will miss him, but he is finally at peace!" Hall gushed.

How did Clifton Oliver die?

Oliver had been battling a prolonged illness, and the news of his death was conveyed on social media by his close friends and family. Hall revealed that in the last six weeks of his life, Oliver had been initially hospitalized and later moved to hospice care. Oliver's partner, Richard, was by his side during his last breaths. 

"He brought so much light to this world! He brought so much light to my life! He impacted the lives of people throughout the world as he showcased his amazing talent, kind soul, and loving spirit to EVERYONE he met!" Hall claimed, adding, "He will be missed, but never forgotten!"

Clifton Oliver's lasting legacy

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Oliver was a student at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts before he pursued his passion for acting in New York City in 2010. He began playing the role in the musical's Las Vegas production and later joined the national touring production before eventually making his way to the Broadway version in 2011.
